Optional Auto preview of textures and snapshots

Please consider adding a UI toggle that would auto load a preview of textures and display as part of the Inventory Item Properties display pane in the SL inventory window. If the option is not enabled the properties pane would only show a place holder that could be clicked to display the texture on request.

The existing view image is good, but a little more labor intensive than desired. I know the tool is primarily for backing up inventory, but I find it most useful for quick and efficient inventory management in world.

Additionally a second preview place holder that would display the texture in a 2x2 tile would be additionally more than welcome.

I am sure I am not the only person that purchased this tool for the primary purpose of organizing my 8,000 plus building textures.

Thanks,

It's a good idea but it's not supported by the simulator cause atm there is no chance to get a texture thumbnail/preview from the simulator, so the cost to get the texture preview - in terms of time and bandwidth - would be the same of getting the whole texture.

We could rather get the texture with a higher discard level, atm SI gets the texture with no discard level, we could try to get the texture with a very low discard level in order to build a thumbnail. Let's me handle some tests before to give you a definitive answer.

Angelo,

Thank you for your reply. I suspected the reason for not having a preview for texture might have been a bandwidth issue. Which is why I am proposing that a toggle in the preferences be added to turn the option on and off. That way the bandwidth expense could be a choice of the end-user. You could have it off my default, and add a warning about bandwidth the bandwidth consumption.

Just wanted make sure that you got the "Optional" part of the request.

Thanks
Lars
