Hello.
I recently tried to loggin in OL with my 1.2.0.8 SI and I saw that the problem continues. Do you have any new about this issue?

I bought SI planning to move all my Second Life creations to other virtual worlds, included Openlife, but I don't want to rebuild all again, that could be very tired and bother.

In my oppinion, the real and only reason that OL has to refuse connections from different ways than their OL client is very clear. They don't want to have their world flooded of stolen and ripped contents from SL Boots or these kind of "tools", and the easiest way to do is that.

Lucille, I believe Second Inventory has died out now after being removed from Openlife. There have been no updates now since this entire flak erupted with Openlife in January. Openlife caved into pressure from paranoid creators in SL back then, and despite assurances from OL that Second Inventory would return, they never allowed it back in. Of course this only hurts us smaller creators who now have no option to move our own creations from one grid to another without spending the same painstaking hours to recreate them prim by prim. I've nearly given up on Openlife completely and second Inventory has become another obsolete tool in my inventory unfortunately. That is not what I wanted. We started this adventure 6 months ago with such excitement and high hopes only to have it crushed by OL. That's all that I can tell you.

Dead? well, we should have knew about that, don't you think so?

Beside jokes, we are alive and we are going to release the 1209, a great new version with some new features and important improvements.

With regards to OpenLife, afaik, we will stop to include Openlife into our trusted grid list, unless Angelo won't talk again with Sakai and new agreements will be taken.

Despite to third part decisions, Second Inventory developers are working hard to improve SI every day, I strongly sugges you to join the group inworld, you'd get an idea about how much attention we pay to keep our customers informed with bugs/features/tips via the group notices and get their feedback via the customer care, not that bad for a dead tool

Open life is alive and well TY all. As for SI, the devs have not completed the required changes to protect IP transfer as requested at the start of the year.
Items transfered to openlife MUST have the creators name applied to the build or its not happening. Its very simple , and thats why SI is still not working in Openlife. The SI team have the emails and contacts to make it happen, and communicate. SO please stop talking BS and do the changes. Openlife do not make this product.

PS groups are not free to join or rejoin in SL so any concerns will fall on deaf ears.

Yesterday me and Sakai met together, we have spoken right about this topic. Sakai gave us a whole region where to test the new version of SI so we are going to delay the release of the version 1.2.0.9 in order to implement some new features that OpenLife needs before to allow SI to login there. Those features are pointing to make more restrictive the copyright system and to allow SI to restore only items which are created by avatars present also in Openlife.

We started the tests today and we hope to finish them in a couple of weeks.

Glad to hear the parties are collaborating openly. I agree this is the way to go. This is a good thing. If the requested changes mentioned above can be implemented successfully then other grids may enjoy the benefits as well.
Don't make it too easy to move junk or questionable content around. It's still possible, of course but the greedy dopes will be hampered at least a bit.
I myself may be limited by this too as I cannot get my OL name in SL and I don't want my SL name in OL. Have to wait and see i guess.

hi just a quick note to those of us who dont care about openlife and gratefully use secondinventory in the many other great grids out there including the large amount of free ones that are out there. will these extra restrictions have the function to turn them off or once they are in to comply with openlife will they affect all other grids not that i object i am just happy the way it works now and i don't want to have to change the way i use SI just to keep a grid i have no interest in going into. on a side note you people do a fantastic job on secondinventory keep it up

The above mentioned changes will affect only Openlife.

"and to allow SI to restore only items which are created by avatars present also in Openlife." This sounds like a protective trade barrier, rather than copyright enforcement.
I do hope this really happens soon, though!
