Can I add my own query to Freja's?
Come on, SI, please post an update on when we are likely to be able to reconnect to OL.
Many thanks!

This is why we have issues with Second Inventory--when we need communication we get silence for over a week

There is growing disappointment in Openlife because its communication level is not a lot better than Second Inventory. Sakai has lost a lot of the faithful that came to his grid to build. I too can not see a reason to remain there when nothing works properly. I would certainly understand and support a decision on SI 's part to not offer its services on the OpenLife Grid. ;) Although your product is not as intuitive as I wish it was and requires far too many mouse clicks to accomplish anything - these appears that there was not reason to restrict its use. It is also strange that if SI intends to continue working with OLG that it does nto offer its usersd an update as to when it will be available again...

Actually we communicate and share any news with you, if we have news of course... But unfortunately we don't have any news about this topic.

Angelo had a long conversation with Sakai and after some general guidelines Sakai forwarded the conversation to Padre (at OL). At the moment we are still waiting the specs from Padre. He has sent an email to Angelo asking him to wait since the OL staff is pretty busy at the moment with other important matters.

Our new version, the 1209, is almost ready but we cannot release it until we receive the details we need to get SI working on OL. We'll wait for a couple of weeks more and after this time we'll release SI without the expected compatibility.

We make our best to keep in touch with our customers and we use all the possible channels to make this possible, we are present on Twitter, on Facebook, inworld and on this forum. But of course we cannot communicate news if no news exist :)

From the OL blog today:

Second Inventory access coming again...

Just a small post to update everyone on progress...

In a recent conversation with the team at second inventory we're told the work is progressing well and some live inworld testing will begin this week of their up coming new version supporting some requested changes by Openlife.

We'll post more information as it comes to hand (hopefully this will include an expected release date).

I just found this forum searching for answers why, for the last two or so weeks, I could not log into the opensim I belong to, 3rd rock grid. After multiple, daily attempts, questioning the grids owners, it dawned on me to come here for help. Am I to understand that after spending $6000 lindens to use on 3rd rock grid, that now I can't because of a scripting issue? And that it doesnt seem that it will be fixed anytime soon? For once I hope I am wrong.............. any input or information would be greatly appreciated..

thank you

sunny tomorrow

Actually it's not a Script problem. At the beginning, we thought too that it was a script problem but, afaik, OL asked us to implement a more restrictive copyright system to be applied for their grid.
I didn't read the specifications so I cannot tell you more and to be honest Angelo is still waiting the draft from Sakai and so atm this implementation is not yet developed but, as far as I heard from Angelo, it should regards the way that items coming from SL should be restored into OL, no scripts problem at all.

Ok guys-----is it Openlife we're waiting on or is it Second Inventory? Does anyone have a real estimate of availablity? And just what restrictions are we talking about implementing in the new version? These are my questions, and after paying 6000L we should get more information than we're getting

I would like to help you apellesluna but I think you should better ask to the OL staff rather than here.

What I can tell you is that we are going to release the new version in a couple of weeks, with or without the OL compatibility.

We included the changes that Sakai asked us to, but we cannot even test them because, at the moment, the 1.2.0.9 is not allowed to login in OL even for us. We are still waiting the details from the OL staff to make this version full compatible with their requests but it seems that they are quite busy atm, so you could try to ask them rather than us :)

With regards for the money you spent to purchase SI, you bought a software that was, and still is, able to login in SL and in any Opensim grid, as written in the product description, unfortunately OpenLife has forked from the Opensim implementation and it cannot longer be considered an Opensim grid or rather, even if it could be considered Opensim, we cannot go against the grid administrator decisions, so if he wanted to deny the access to its grid for any client except its own client, you can just accept it.

I don't want to seem rude but we cannot grant you that SI can login in any grids on the globe despite the Admin decisions, we made a product that has the abilities to login in any sl/os based grid, the rest is up to the grid owner and its residents.

I just want to point out that working with OpenLife Grid is probably a waste of time, OpenSim project tried working with Sakai and OLG, more specificly Tribal Media, OLG hired Tribal media to create some patches for OpenSIM for a few 1000$, Tribal media lived up to their end of the deal and delivered the patches, and OLG decided they were no longer go to pay Tribal Media what they agreed upon, Its is very much in OLG and Sakais nature to go back on things he says and does. For SI team or anyone else to try to work with this company IHMO is a waste of their time, personally I would not hold your breathe if your an OLG citizen.
