The 1.2.0.2 released (2008-07-02)

Postby Nereo Albatros on Wed Jul 02, 2008 4:47 pm

Main changes
  • Developed an Asset Cache. Now SI cache the assets to increase the backup speed
  • Manual Selection/Exclusion of items via check boxes from the Folder Backup
  • Removed any blocking cause during the folder backup, popups/alerts/prompts during the process in order to make it entirely batch
  • Fixed some textures issue. SI wasn't able to download some small textures because of some discard level/size problem, more on the SL Jira: VWR2404 and VWR1815
  • Fixed some login issue and improved the Proxy feature
  • Opensim backups are now working as well as in SL. We solved the opensim problem on textures (wrong packet count/size/discard level calculation)

Thx for the updates! My review (tested on OpenSim grid):

1) Texture uploading to OpenSim seems to work better. I see that texture names still aren't copied when I use ADVANCED RESTORE / CREATE NEW TEXTURE UUID. All textures receive a default name. Will it be possible in future to persist the texture names?

2) Scripts in an object don't seem to copy correctly. This may be a problem caused by OpenSim. Scripts don't appear in inventory at all. The object's CONTENTS will contain a script with the correct name, but the created script will not contain the proper text.

3) Sounds in an object's CONTENTS don't seem to copy at all.

Thx for the good work! Keep it up. :)

Hello Paulie, howdy ;)

1) It was my fault, we developed this feature but i forgot to send it to the production edition and it's still in the devs edition... my apologizes.

2) Scripts upload in Opensim needs more study and test, the feature RezScript in opensim is quite recent and it works a bit differently than in the sl upload transfer method. We are testing it right now.

3) Object content restore, except scripts, is under development and it's painful :)

Second Inventory seems to have a bug which causes solid, blank textures to be restored as transparent when an object is restored to OSGrid. Strangely, if I use SELECT TEXTURE to investigate the textures, I see that transparency is set to 0.0, but the textures still appear as transparent inworld. To fix the problem, I must choose BLANK on every solid texture. This problem may be a quirk of the way OpenSim stores its BLANK texture. Perhaps the BLANK texture in OpenSim has a different UUID than the BLANK texture on Linden grid? I will investigate.

I have investigated the issue of blank textured prims becoming transparent on restore to OSGrid. The issue does not seem to be caused by OpenSim having a different UUID for the BLANK texture. The issue does seem to have something to do with how an object is linked. UNlinking and relinking my object fixed some, but not all of the transparent textures. I will continue to investigate.
