Why should I buy Second Inventory?
Because it allows you to have a local backup of the items you create on SL™, avoiding the risk to lose them. This means that you can (if you have the proper permissions) save permanently Scripts, Notecard, Textures, Clothes, Skins, Objects (prim and primset). Second Inventory was created mainly for those who spend time and money on SL™.
Why should I not buy Second Inventory?
Don't buy Second Inventory if you wan't to steal the other people’s creations. This product isn't for you, you would lose your money.
Is it a Copybot? What they have in common?
No, it isn't. There is a big difference between the two. Second Inventory doesn't allow you to copy/clone other people’s items, it just accesses to your remote inventory (not the cache), check permissions as the SL™ client, and re-build a local copy of your items. To access them you need to have the proper permissions. The only thing they have in common is the networking layer (libsecondlife).
Can I obtain a full perm copy of a no-perm item?
It depends, if you aren't the creator, you can't. Anyway you can save the item's information in you local drive, to keep track of your purchases and for some future purposes, but you can't access them or restore them. We made a copyright system that doesn't allow you to do that if some conditions aren’t met.
How could I get a full perm copy of a no-perm item even if I'm the creator?
Prims information and asset datas (except for scripts and notecards) are always avaible and Second Inventory can obtain them. We decided to allow original creators to re-create their skins, textures, clothes by getting those asset datas and decoding them. We are also SL™ content creators so we know that is possible to lose the source of these items and sometimes the only available example is just the customer’s copy, don't you think?
How may I save skins/clothes/textures?
Second Inventory saves all information about an item in its own encrypted format and (respecting the perms) gives you the possibility to browse them and save them in different formats. You can open a skin and view its parameters and its upper/lower textures and save them in Gif, Jpeg, Png, Tif
How may I save multiprims objects/buildings/structures?
According to the copyright restrictions you can save all your objects, even complex linkset and all their contents to access them offline. Second Inventory downloads and stores all the prims information exactly like the SL™ client does it: General data, Object data, Features data, Textures and Content for each prim in the object, so with just one click you can save all your scripts in each prim for all the linkset.
How are the items stored? What would happen if another app accessed to them?
The items information and the asset data are stored strongly encrypted at 128 bit. They can be considered very secure. Nobody with programming skills would be so foul to invest so much time and energy to decrypt them because he could spend less energy to get the asset data directly from SL™ :)
What about full perms products sold with license restrictions?
Normally, when you sell a full perms product with transfer/resell limitations, you are trusting the buyer’s honesty but nobody could stop him of selling them. With Second Inventory is the same, if he has full perm on your textures he can copy them and resell them, no technical limitations, just the buyer’s honesty.
